An Inspector’s Perspective

Pony’s training and experience as an inspector offers a unique opportunity for homeowners who want to get the job done right – and see the gains in property value a quality reno can deliver. “Occasionallly,” Pony says with a smile, “tradesmen take short cuts, but I know the code and why it’s important do things right.” His experience as a foreman makes Pony comfortable applying that knowledge. “I’m used to babysitting 32 guys, so you can count on me to be sure the electrician or plumber is doing it right.”

Why is following the codes so important? Aside from passing permit inspections, it ensures the safety and value of your home. Inspecting an electrician’s work, Pony found an armored cable stapled to a wooden fence instead of properly buried in a trench – a code violation and a safety hazard. “What happens if the fence blows down?” Pony asked – knowing the result of a broken cable on damp wood. The electrician “hadn’t thought of that” and returned to trench the cable at no cost.

Like It’s My House

A home renovation is hard enough without coming home to tools and dust. Pony is proud to “do every job like it’s my own house.” The crew cleans up every night, and every night hauls away the trash. “You’ll wonder whether we were here.”
